Most of our raw materials are either 100% natural or what we call “naturally-derived”. The latter means that the raw material is natural in origin but undergoes an extraction or purification process to achieve the final product, such as titanium dioxide which we use to enhance our soap colours.
For our advanced skin & haircare lines it is sometimes (but rarely) necessary to source some synthetic materials such as our vitamin C derivative. 

Our company proudly received its CERTclean™️ certification in March of 2023.

We aim to be completely transparent with the ingredients we use in our formulas, so they can all be found under the product descriptions listed on our website.

Amongst the entirety of our collections, our aromatherapy shower steamers have been our number one sellers since their launch in early 2021.
Shower steamers function similarly to a bath bomb in the sense that they slowly fizz & dissolve when exposed to water & moisture. This process releases unique aromatic blends of essential oils into your shower’s steam, turning your shower into a luxe aromatherapy spa experience.

We have blends chosen for specific properties which may help with allergies, nausea, malaise, seasonal blues, fatigue, relaxation and so much more!

To colour our soaps & products, we use either botanical (plant-based) or mineral (earth clays) infusions. Our fragrances are pure essential oils from a trusted Canadian supplier located in Toronto, Ontario. We never use micas or synthetic fragrances.

There is ongoing debate amongst cosmetics formulators about the origin of titanium dioxide, so let’s break it down.

The principal source of titanium dioxide is mined ilmenite ore, which contains 45-60% TiO2. From this, a refined derivative is produced for cosmetics to ensure its’ purity and safety by making sure the mineral is free of heavy metals.
It is widely used in cosmetics, sunblocks and foods to lighten the product and give it a whiter colour. Ours is sourced from a trusted Canadian cosmetics supplier located in Vancouver, British Columbia and our products bear the CERTclean certification seal so you can be sure they are safe.

We do our best to process porch pickup & local delivery orders within 1 business day and order for shipping within 1-3 business days.

Never. We only test on humans (myself & my husband mainly - haha -and trusted family & friends)! In the summer of 2022, Pure Botanica proudly earned its Leaping Bunny™️ certification and must continue to re-certify every year so you know our products stay in compliance with our certification.

As a company, we aim to be as friendly to our delicate environment as possible. Our goal is to use less than 0.5% plastic in our packaging! This means that 99.5% of our packaging is either recyclable, reusable and/ or biodegradable.

We also offer bulk products to our retail partners, which means many of them purchase our collections without any packaging and can offer them to you refillery-style.

Unfortunately no. This would go against Cosmetic Canada’s GMP (good manufacturing practice) standards. You may be surprised to find a refillery-style boutique near you, which will usually accept clean, reusable containers for you to fill products with and minimize waste!

We do encourage you to repurpose or recycle your containers.

There is on going debate in the medical community about the safety of essential oil use during pregnancy and nursing.
Plant-based does not necessarily mean 100% safe; after all, many plants are highly toxic! Essential oils are highly concentrated and should be used with the utmost care during pregnancy. Although we always follow our manufacturer’s dilution recommendations, we are not medical professionals. For this reason, we advise you to discuss the use of essential oils during pregnancy/ nursing with your health care provider.

Our shower steamers are made with 100% pure essential oils. Essential oils are very pure & potent plant extracts that can cause damage when used on porous surfaces (some plastics, wood etc.) If you are unsure whether or a surface is porous in your shower, we always recommend placing your shower steamers on our trays to protect porous surfaces.
